Barbara Ann Brown Lang was born on February 25, 1941 to her late father, Robert Brown, and late mother Mary Elizabeth Brown in the city of Elizabeth, New Jersey. On Wednesday, March 30th 2022, she was called home to eternal rest.
Barbara was educated through the Elizabeth, NJ school system. She graduated and received her diploma from Battin High School. She enjoyed roller skating and was often at the Twin City Roller Skating Rink showing off her moves. Thereafter, she worked many years as a factory line worker. During Barbara’s journey she met and married Willie James Lang.
Barbara was the matriarch of her family and a loving mother of 4, grandmother of 7, great-grandmother of 9, and great-great-grandmother of 2. She was affectionately known as ”Gammy” “Grammy” “GG” “Granny” and “Grandma”. She was the second mom and grandma to so many friends and people in the community and was loved by all who were blessed to know her.
Barbara’s passions were listening and enjoying the sounds of old school music, watching “spooky pictures” with her grandchildren, and doing her word search puzzles which she faithfully completed at least ten pages per day. She made her grandchildren feel extra special and gave each of them their own special nicknames of endearment.
Barbara loved the Lord and always passed on encouraging spiritual words to uplift her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by parents Robert Brown and Mary Elizabeth Brown; her husband Willie James Lang, sons Sean Michael Brown and Tyrone Derek Brown aka Wali; and brother Carl Brown.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Sharlene Brown of Roselle, New Jersey, and Cassandra Hunter of Willingboro, New Jersey, and son-in-law Johnnie Hunter Sr. Grandchildren: Tamesha Lang (Vickie), Talika Watson (Quan), Johnnie Hunter Jr. (Denise), Tequah Pearson (Malachi), Michael Pearson, Walisa Hunter, and Re’gine Hunter. Great-grandchildren: Jaquan Baisden, Al-Samel Watson, Aniyah Watson, Qandell Daniels Jr., Idreea Watson, Samiyah Watson and Terriona Bunn; Great-great-grandchildren, Aubrey Hawkins, and Autumn Baisden. Life-long companion Matthew Thomas, as well as a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends that became family.
