First Lady Brenda P. McNeill, the daughter of Rennette Turner and the late Clarence “Tippy” Turner Sr., was born on September 3rd, 1957 in Newark, New Jersey. “Lady B,” as she was affectionately called by her Praise Temple family and “Pokey,” by her Turner family.
Brenda attended Newark and Linden, New Jersey public schools. She was employed by Nynex telephone company, National Football League (NFL), Engelhard Corporation andworked 23 years at the Department of Child Protection & Permanency (previously known as Division of Youth & Family Services).
While attending Soehl Junior High School in Linden, New Jersey, 13-year-old Brenda first met the love of her life, 14-year-old, Tony McNeill. On September 15th, 1979, they were united in Holy Matrimony by Bishop Jesse McNeill.
From their union, they were blessed with two children, Jessica Jeneé and Sharonda Jeraé.
In her walk with God, she was a member of St. James AME, Newark, New Jersey, Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church, Elizabeth, New Jersey, and Praise Temple I.C.O.G., Linden, New Jersey, where she served as First Lady.
First Lady Brenda P. McNeill leaves to cherish the fond memories, her husband, Bishop Tony McNeill; her two children: Jessica (Shaun) Darling of New Jersey and Sharonda (Shamar) Rumph of New Jersey; three grandchildren: Jeremiah Darling, Shamar Rumph Jr. and Sylas Rumph. She also leaves to mourn her mother, Rennette Turner (Rodney Smith) of New Jersey, her step-mother, Karen Turner (the late Clarence “Tippy” Turner Sr.) of Florida; her father-in-law & mother-in-law: Deacon Samuel McNeill Sr. (Carrie) (both deceased); her siblings: Reneé Polite (Tony) of South Carolina, Clarence Turner Jr., (Janice) (both deceased), Marvina Turner-Hinckson (Kevin), Tippie Neff (Thomas) of Colorado, Al Turner and Shane Turner of Florida; two brothers-in-law: Deacon Samuel McNeill Jr. (Evonne) of New Jersey, Pastor Bernard McNeill (First Lady Tina) of New York; twenty godchildren; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, great nephews & nieces, great-great nephews & nieces, cousins, other relatives, friends and the Praise Temple I.C.O.G. church family.
