Charles Brown Obituary

Charles Lester Brown (Buffy, Chaz Brown) entered into the eternal afterlife on August 29, 2021. Charles and twin Charlene were born on September 28, 1947.  His entire family were raised at 1026 Bond Street Elizabeth New Jersey. He grow up with GOD in his life from lessons learned from Shiloh Baptist Church.  He strongly believed in Jesus Christ whom carried him thru his many perilous journeys in the Vietnam War and his travels around the world. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School class of 1965 were he excelled in football.  His favorite professional football team was the Dallas Cowboys. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy in June 27, 1965.  He was an advised lover of music and he loved to dance. He was a dignified man with an impeccable fashion sense. Chaz was a  Mason where he earned the distinction of 32nd degree Mason.

Charles served with the United States Navy for 25 years earning the distinction of Chief Master of the Arms Police Offer (Bomb Patrol and Dog Handler). He received to 2 Bronze Star awards, 2 Vietnam awards for Valor in the face of danger. After retirement from for the Navy he served with Norfolk VA Sheriff’s department, Fed Ex, Barton’s Security, Allied Security, and finally Department of Corrections Virginia   Sussex One State Correctional Facility.

Buffy was predeceased in death by his father Charles A Brown, his mother Margret B. Port Brown, his grandparents, James Porter, Viola Porter,  great aunt Eunice Rivers Lori of the Tuskegee Institute Alabama, his twin sister Charlene V. Prigeon, and his nephew Theodore. Buffy’s dogs were the love of his life Spot, Lucky, Midnight, Satan, Duke, Peaches, and Peanut. Chaz was  survived by Rocky, Dolce Gabana, Kendra, and Zion.

Chaz leaves behind his three daughters Dr. Sabrina R. Brown Oliver, Melanie A. Brown, special daughter Telisha Randal, stepson Jhonelle Green and his youngest sister Matilda (Lorna) Brown Walker and one brother Robert Legrand. He was blessed with 4 grandchild Jordan Alexander, Ryshia, grandsons Rykel, and Raylen, 3 great grandchildren Kiara, Jamier and Kelanie Oliver and host of nieces, nephews and special friend for life David Cordes. Chaz was married four times and divorced four times Diane (Nee Davidson) Melvin, Annette Brown, Maureen Brown and Sandra (nee Green) Brown. Diane and Sandra produced two beautiful, strong willed, educated women. Jhonelle his stepson followed into the military serving in Iraq. This something to be proud of in today’s times and know my father was very proud of his children’s achievements.
As the family we acknowledge and the sacrifices that my father made to keep the world safe. We are proud of all the achievement he received during his life time. We invite all to come out and celebrate his life.
