Charles Edouard Thebaud, Sr.
November 7, 1951-February 6, 2024
Charles Edouard Thebaud, Sr. was born on November 7, 1951, to our late Grandmother Marie Luce Thebaud and our late Grandfather Magloire Baudin in Gonaives, Haiti. He was the oldest of our Grandmother’s three boys. Our Father was predeceased by his brother Paul Henry Monexand affectionately known as Polo. He leaves behind his youngest brother Marc Antoine Thebaud affectionately known as Marco. Our Grandfather had ten children, Alice Baudin Jean Baptiste, Laura Baudin, Marie Therese Saint-Amand, Philomene Marie Josette Baudin, Antoine Racine, and Josette Delpa who all predeceased our Father. Charles, Sr. leaves behind his siblings Jacqueline Jackson, Reginald, and the youngest Kettelene Saintilus.
Since our Father was the first grandchild on his mother's side he was spoiled rotten and loved by all. Charles, Sr. was a very poise man who was very punctual and sharp in his style of dress. He was an avid swimmer. He studied electricity in Moulin à Vent, Port au Prince, Haiti. He married the love of his life, his friend of over fifty years, our Mother, Marie Claude Saintil on August 31, 1974.
He migrated to the US on September 1, 1974, for a better living and did exactly that. He became a Mason in 1982 with La Bethanie Lodge #10 in East Orange, NJ. He became a Manager at steel company Mapes and Sprowl. After the company relocated, he used his entrepreneurial skills and started his own private transportation company, Saintil Limo. Our Father enjoyed driving and was a human navigation system, any location you wanted to go to, he knew a shortcut and would tell you a landmark to look for. In his leisure time he managed and owned a soccer team named Sunshine in Elizabeth, NJ. He loved to discuss politics and sports. Charles, Sr. also enjoyed Kompa music and was an event promoter, where he earned the nickname, Charlie.
Charles, Sr. and Marie Claude were a few months shy of their Golden anniversary when he passed away on February 6, 2024, at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, NJ.
Charles, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Marie Claude Saintil-Thebaud, four successful children Dr. Sandra D. Thebaud-Young, NP, Mr. Charles E. Thebaud Jr., Mr. Pascal H. Thebaud, Dr. Steven A. Thebaud, MD, and his amazing grandson Mr. Joseph A. Young. Our Father also leaves behind his brothers, sisters, a host of nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, Godchildren, many cousins, and good friends.
To know him was to love him. He was not a perfect man but he was our Father. In closing we would like to express our deepest love for our Father, he will truly be missed. May he Rest in peace. Daddy, we love you forever. May God grant mercy on your soul and welcome you with open arms.
