Constance Ernestine “Connie” Grant was born January 3, 1965, in Elizabeth, NJ to the late Leroy and Rev. Christine Grant (Coleman).
Connie was baptized at Mt Teman AME Church of Elizabeth NJ, where her mother served as Assistant Minister.
Educated in the Elizabeth Public School Systems. She was the captain of the cheerleader squad and a member of the step team. She graduated from Elizabeth High School in 1983.
After high school she enlisted in the US Marine Corps where she received an Honorable Discharge.
After the Marine Corps Connie met Kevin Hall. From that relation two sons were born Shamar Hall (Beatriz) and Lamar Grant (Christina).
Constance later met Rasheed Howard. From their union her youngest son Rasheed Howard III (Saniela) was born. The two of them co-parented their children and grandchildren throughout their adulthood.
Connie was a loving mother who loved to fuss and prank her sons. She was a proud mother who instilled an immense strength in her sons. Her outgoing personality fueled the love of her family and friends.
Connie was known for dancing, spending time and enjoying life with family and friends. She loved to attend church and was filled with the Holy Spirit. Growing up she was an avid member of the tambourine ministry, where she was known for her powerful solo’s.
Connie was a daddy’s girl and her sibling’s keeper.
She was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Lee and Bennett.
She leaves behind three amazing sons, Her eldest Shamar, US Air Force Veteran, Freelance spoken word poet and an Air Traffic Controller for the FAA. Her second son Lamar a Health Care IT Analyst and an overall jack of all trades. Her youngest son Rasheed a Collegian Basketball Player who received a BS in criminal Justice from AIC. Daughters in-law Beatriz, Christina and Saniela. Her Siblings, Esther Elaine, Khalil, Jean and William. Grandchildren Jemini, Josiah, Aniyah, and Aaliyah and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.
