Darlene Yvette Cordelia Jones Gardner, of Somerset, NJ, was the first born daughter of the (late) Robert Jones and Deborah Snell Jones, on September 7,1958, left us all too early on September 11,2023. Darlene closed her eyes for the last time in Chicago Ill, in the midst of battling heart failure and sepsis. The Lord saw fit to call her home to end her times of suffering.
Darlene was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey where she grew up. Later moving to Linden, NJ, to enjoy her youthful school days within the Linden School system. Darlene earned her High School Diploma from Linden High School. Darlene continued her education by taking course at Somerset County College. Darlene became an active member in the Somerset / New Brunswick community. She was an active member of the Elks Lounge, where she hosted plenty of fashion shows, and community based events for her closet friends, family, and members of the Elks Lounge. Darlene was gifted with the arts and crafts. She was some Artist. Darlene was known to have drawn some amazing pictures and portraits. Her portfolio of art work was one to glorify. She would often pass the time by painting, and loom knitting. While enjoying her hobbies she would love to do what she does best... TALK. Darlene would have 3-4 hour talks with best friend / (late) cousin Sharon Robyn Jones.
In the year of 1991, Darlene found the Love of life. Her husband Earl "Frenchy" Gardner. They were married shortly after meeting, and continued to exemplify the true meaning of Love, until Earl was called home in 2016. In separable was an understatement when it came to Darlene and Earl. Darlene couldn't have been more happier, spending her days, and nights with Earl. Listening to them argue was the highlight of the families night. Earl would start, then Darlene fire off. We all know Darlene was the BOSS. She would tell everybody what to do. She even would tell me what to do in my own house.. But that was her!
Darlene is survived by her amazing mother, Deborah Lavada Jones, sister Heavenly Dawn Jones- Locklin, brothers Robert Girard Jones and Daniel Gaylord Jones. Darlenes pride and joy rest upon her nieces and nephews: (Late) Jay Michael Todd Hammond, Obey Ariel Astar Jones, Chyna Danielle Jones, Cassius Messiah Jones, Lyriq Yasina Lavada Jones, Madison Joy Jones and great nephew! Skylar Battisto Hammond. Darlene's arms spreads across her nieces and nephews were the corner stone of her life.
