Edward William Scott-Bey Jr. Obituary

Edward William Scott-Bey Jr. the son of the late Edward William and Pauline Scott-Bey Sr. was born May 23,1950 in Newark NJ

“Eddie” as he was called by family and “Scott-Bey” by his friends attended the Newark school system and graduated from Central High School in Newark NJ with high honors as Salutatorian in 1968. Eddie attended the Rensselaer Polytechnic University Troy NY.

Eddie went on to work for the State of New Jersey Department of Labor Division of Unemployment where he started his career in Security and worked his way up until He retired from his position as an Appeals examiner after 35 years.

While working for the State of NJ he met the love of his life Darlene Rochelle Scott-Bey, as he affectionately called her his “Gorgeous Girl”. They married in April 15,1986 and built a beautiful life and an undeniable bond. They took their vows seriously. Eddie was a great father, Pop Pop, and family man. He loved his children Edward Scott-Bey III Brieanna Scott-Bey, La’Chelle Smith (Timothy Sr) and his grandchildren Nyomi, Travis Jr., Shaina, Aliyah, Timia, Hanah, Timothy Jr., Eli, Great Grandchildren, Bella, Deandre, and Sevyn.

Eddie was known by ever so cheerful greeting” MERRY CHRISTMAS”. No matter the season it was always Merry Christmas. And He had a way to make you feel like every day was Christmas.

When you came into his home, he made you feel like family even if he had met you for the first time. He would do anything for anybody. He was also affectionally known as poppa Bey to some. His daughter Brieanna would say before he gave his life to the Lord, He was the most Christian NON-Christian she ever knew.

Eddie was a member of The New Zion Baptist Church of Elizabeth NJ where he faithfully served as an Ambassador and member of the Mighty Warriors of Zion Male Chorus. If Deacon Smith or Brother Olivera could count on a member stepping in and fulfilling his duties it was always Brother Scott-Bey. Even in times of illness he was ready and willing to serve.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Pauline, and his eldest sister Orissa. He leaves behind to celebrate his life along with his family, his loving wife Darlene the afore mentioned children, grand and great-grand children, his brothers John (Dolly) Kenneth (LaShawn) Dennis (Alessandra) Sister Debra Dempsey and a host of nieces’ nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and The New Zion Baptist Church family.

EDDIE’S FAVOITE SCRIPTURE WAS PSALM 144:1 “BLESSED BE THE LORD MY STRENGTH, WHICH TEACHEHT MY HAND TO WAR, AND MY FINGERS TO FIGHT.”

And fight he did!                                                                                          Lovingly Submitted the Family
