Jimmy Lee Mitchell Obituary

Jimmy Lee Mitchell, the first child born to the late Eunice and Gladys Mitchell entered this life On July 17, 1943. On Sunday March 6,2022 Jimmy Lee Mitchell transitioned into eternal life.
Jimmy Lee was educated in the Pasquotank County, NC School System.  His love of driving began early as a school bus driver.  Once moving to New Jersey he started his career at Clark Furniture and then moved on to several other companies until he found his love of being a truck driver. His career expanded over fifty years and he traveled many miles in and outside of  the USA. His last employer was TMX Intermodal Trucking Company where he created a family of friends.

Over the years, Jimmy Lee established several businesses, but one of the most memorable would be the “Mama Jama Bar” in Elizabeth, New Jersey. His hobbies included car racing and motorcycling.  He also enjoyed bus trips to Atlantic City every once in awhile.

He was a member of Mt. Moriah Church and always had his special spot where he would sit.
Jimmy Lee was preceded in death by daughter April Denise Mitchell, son Terrance Williams, son Desmond Lee Mitchell, brother Calvin Gene Mitchell, and Annette Flemon (longtime partner).

He leaves to cherish his memories: Carolyn Mitchell (mother of Dennis and Derrick), sons  Dennis and Derrick Mitchell and son Jewel Eason all of Elizabeth City, N.C; two loving sisters, Juanita Hollowell and Veronica Heckstall (Ronnie) both of Elizabeth City, N.C; two brothers, Garret Mitchell of New Bern, N.C. and Bobby Mitchell (Linda) of Elizabeth City, N.C.; and stepson Rodney Flemon (Wendy) of Newark, NJ; four grandchildren Demetria Mitchell, Andrea Harris, Mielissa Mercer, Demetrius Mercer (Kanisha); three great grandchildren; Demetrius, Zion, Naimah; one sister in-law, Sarah Mitchell and a special nephew, Sidney Mitchell.
He also leaves a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
