Louis Gregory Obituary

Louis Gregory, affectionately known as Lou, departed his very loving family on December 7, 2021 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Siuol, which was his self-given alter name, was the third son born to Raymond and Ossielee Hope Gregory in Plainfield, New Jersey on December 8, 1969. Louis was the proud father of his pride and joy, his star, his world, his son, Dajuan Nasir Gregory and was the husband of the love of his life, his “Sta”, Stacey Gregory of North of Plainfield, New Jersey.

Louis loved to play basketball. He had a three point shot which was second to none. Louis began his basketball career with Plainfield Public Schools playing at Hubbard Middle School and Plainfield High School. He eventually joined his brothers, completing his high school years at Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High School, Piscataway Campus. It is at the Vo-Tech where he honed the necessary skills that would lead to a 33 year career for him as a plumber. He worked in the plumbing shop at Rutgers University for 33 years! He loved his job. It was very rare for him to miss a day.

Louis loved the children in his family. That includes those with whom he shared blood but also those acquired through marriage and friendship. He was a mentor, a confidant and a friend to them. There were many sleepovers at Uncle Lou’s house. Uncle Lou loved music (Rap and R&B), ice cream (butter pecan) and bean pies!Lou will definitely be remembered for his many Facebook debates. Once he had an opinion, you were not going to change his mind. He was also a consummate conspiracy theorist. Many conversations began with “think about this…” or “mark my words, watch what happens.” Honestly, most times he was correct. He will always be remembered for being a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan!

In addition to his wife and son, Louis is survived by his loving sister and best friend, Elisha Y. Hope of Smithfield, NC, his brothers: Ronald Gregory (Stephanie) of South Plainfield, NJ and Lamont Gregory (Tamika) of Allentown, PA; his mother-in-law, Alberta Easterling of Newark, NJ; his sister-in-law, Tracey Watkins of Bloomfield, NJ; his adopted godparents, Ross and Madeline Hill of Orange, NJ and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Louis was predeceased by his parents Raymond Gregory Jr. and Ossielee Hope and his brother Raymond Gregory III.
