Margaret Rufus

Margaret Kearney Rufus, daughter of the late Willie J.Kearney and Anniebell Green Kearney, was born June 11, 1937 in Warren County, North Carolina. She departed this life on Tuesday, February 12, 2024 after a brief illness. Margaret was the fourth child in a family of six children. Margaret received the Lord and was baptized at an early age. She was educated in Warren and Vance counties school system in North Carolina. As a young adult, Margaret moved to New Jersey and was employed at National Tool & Mfg., Kenilworth, New Jersey for
a few years. She was married to the late John Rufus. They were blessed with four sons. Margaret really enjoyed living and had a great and an infectious laugh.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Troy; her sister Alice K. Brown; brothers Ersell, Clement and Milton Kearney.
Left to treasure and celebrate Margaret’s memory are her sons: Reginald of Hawaii, Michael of Pennsylvania and Keith of Florida; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother Otis Kearney of Roselle, New Jersey; one sister-in-law Otha Kearney of Abbeville, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
