Marie Cuylear Obituary

Marie Coleman Cuylear was born on August 12, 1934, in Bishopville, South Carolina to the late Richard Meyers and Mattie Dozier. Marie departed her life on January 7, 2022, at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey. She attended the Linden Public School system and graduated from Linden High School. Marie was employed at several jobs and retired from Schering Plough in Kenilworth, New Jersey after over 10 years of service. Marie was a beloved member of Liberty Baptist Church for over fifty years where she served on the Usher Board, led Bible School for the youth, and was a devoted member of the Eastern Star.

Marie was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She cherished her time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Over her lifetime she collected an antique doll collection which she admired and displayed in her homes. In her spare time, Marie enjoyed going to the Casinos with her friends and attending her senior trips at the Community Center. Marie was known for her cooking every Sunday and especially during the holiday season.

She leaves in her loving memory, her five children Rosemarie Jones ( Johnnie ) of Rahway, New Jersey, Minnie Coleman ( Elex ) of Early Branch, South Carolina, Elvis Coleman ( Jacqueline ) of Elizabeth, New Jersey,  Kevin Coleman ( Regina ) of Linden, New Jersey, Jonathan Cuylear ( Lattwana ) of Elizabeth, New Jersey. Her three loving sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Dr. Merdis Johnson, Annie J. Cuylear, Loretta Busby, and James Brantley all of South Carolina. Marie was predeceased by her husband Marion Isaac Cuylear, her son Jerome “Pete” Coleman, her sister Gloria “Gook” Meyers, and her nephew Richard Meyers.

Marie leaves to mourn her twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, two nieces, a nephew, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

The Coleman-Cuylear family gives a special thanks to the Michaels family and her best friend Altamease Williams better known as Momma B!
