Thomas Jordan
1937 - 2021
Legacy of Thomas Jordan Jr.
In Loving Memory
Thomas Jordan Jr., son of the late Thomas Jordan Sr. and the late Ruth Richardson Jordan, was born February 28, 1937 in Enfield (Halifax County), North Carolina. He and his two sisters were raised by his grandfather and his wife after the death of his mother at an early age. He and his sisters shared a bond that was undeniably close and evident to anyone who knew them. Our Heavenly Father called Thomas Jordan Jr. to eternal rest on July 27, 2021, surrounded by his children and close family members.
Thomas grew up in Enfield, North Carolina, where he received his education in Halifax County. There he met his soulmate and the love of his life, Eva Mae Warren. They were united in marriage in 1959 in Emporia, Virginia. In 1961, they relocated to Newark, New Jersey with three children to seek better opportunities for their family. To this union, a total of six children were born. They remained married for 62 years until Eva Mae’s death in March 2021.
Thomas, also affectionately known as June, was very quiet and mild tempered, and always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a hard worker, loved to cook, and loved to tinker around the house and repair things. He accepted Christ at an early age and often attended Antioch Baptist Church in Springfield, New Jersey with his family.
Thomas’ strong work ethic began as a young boy at the age of seven, when he began working on a farm. He worked until the age of 23 when he moved to New Jersey and worked at B&M Finishers, Inc. in Kenilworth, New Jersey for 50 years until he retired in 2013.
Those left to cherish the memory of his love are his six children: Carolyn Ann Jordan, Elbert Jordan, Vernell Marie Jordan, Janice Jordan, Michael Jordan, and Terence Keith Jordan; six grandchildren: Roddy, Temple, Nate, Jeremy, Jayla, and Sean; four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Helene Bell and Bernice Jordan; one daughter-in-law, Susan Jordan; three sisters-in-law: Savannah Vinson (Mack Vinson), Shirley Robinson (David Taylor), and Minnie Robinson; one brother-in-law, Charlie Warren Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Mae Jordan; one grandson, Staff Jordan; and four brothers-in-law, Calvin Bell, Jim Henry Warren, James Lee Warren, and Achell Warren Jr.
John 14:1-7 KJV
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
LEGACY
Words can never fully express
Just what you mean to me
Without you there in my life
I don't know where I'd be
From you I learned about
Hard work and responsibility
Your actions spoke louder than your words
You taught me that talk is cheap
I watched you be a man and father
And I tried to follow your lead
And I gladly carry your name with pride
It's my honor to help carry on your legacy
Written by Roddy Jordan, grandson
IF WE COULD VISIT HEAVEN
If we could visit heaven,
even for a day,
maybe for a moment,
the pain would go away.
We’d put our arms around you,
and whisper words so true,
that living life without you
is the hardest thing to do.
No matter how we’d spend our days,
no matter what we do,
no morning dawns or evening falls,
when we don’t think of you.
FOR MY DAD IN HEAVEN
They say there is a reason,
They say time will heal.
Neither time or reason
Will change the way I feel.
Gone are the days
We used to share,
But in my heart
You are always there.
The gates of memories
Will never close.
I miss you more than
Anybody knows,
Love and miss you everyday
Till we meet again.
Always & Forever Love You
In Appreciation
The family gratefully acknowledges the outpouring of love from our friends. We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for your thoughts, prayers, and acts of kindness during this hour of bereavement. May God bless and keep each one of you in His tender, loving care.
