Winston Tidd Obituary

Winston Tidd was born on May 24, 1942 in Arima. Trinidad/Tobago. He was the son of the late Rita Tidd. Winston came to the United States from Trinidad in his mid-twenties and has led a very productive life working as a machinist at various companies. He worked at one time at a Curtis Wright plant in Fairfield, NJ. His last employment before retirement was with Hansome Energy Systems in Linden, NJ.

Winston was a very friendly person and wanted to greet everyone he met with a smile. It meant so much to him for people to really be friendly back to him.
It meant so much to him when he attended the Stephen Sampson Senior Center to be greeted with many friendly seniors who called him Mr. Winston.
He was an avid bowler which took him to play in many team tournaments. Winston loved watching his sports of tennis, golf, football and especially
baseball of which he was a diehard Mets fan. Every year his front yard would be adorned with flowers of all colors that caught the eye of everyone that
passed by the house. He also had a small vegetable garden of tomatoes in the back yard which he took pride in. He was definitely a people person to our
neighbors. In the winter he would go shovel the snow for not just in front of his house but shovel at least two other neighbors’ homes.

Traveling was also a means of enjoyment for Winston. He had the opportunity to travel on many cruises, bus trips and was able to travel on a Holy Pilgrimage
to the Holy Land with his church for 15 days. He loved going back home to Trinidad to visit his immediate family and cousins and friends.
Winston attended the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart church in Newark, NJ where he became a dedicated ambassador greeting the parishioners as they
entered church every Sunday Morning. Very rarely he missed a Sunday at his post. He liked to be the first one to set up the bulletins and get ready for
everyone to arrive.

After a lengthy illness Winston departed this life on Monday, February, 12, 2024 at home. In addition to his Mother, Winston was predeceased by his brothers, St. Rose
and Leo of Trinidad and sister Elizabeth of Trinidad. He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife Lorraine, her children and family, 2 brothers, Lucian of Trinidad, Carl (Judith) of Brooklyn, NY, 3 sisters, Francillia of St. Croix Virgin Islands, Octavia (Lenny) of Trinidad and Roslyn of Trinidad and host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and
Godson Richard Maxim of Linden.
